There is no flash feature available on the camera, so any images taken in substandard lighting will turn out too dark or will be a completely black image. The camera works best in the outdoors in full sunlight, but good images can also be obtained in enclosed areas with plenty of direct light. The issue with the lighting for the iPhone camera is typical to many cellular phone cameras as most cameras located within cellular phones do not include a flash.
